It’s National Clam Chowder Day and we wanted to bring you a chowder recipe from a PEI expert. There are hundreds of ways to make chowder but we were looking for a quintessential local recipe that knocked the seafood flavour out of the park. Enter Chef Hunter Guindon, executive chef of the hyper local The Table Culinary Studio in Kensington, PEI. Named by the Globe & Mail in 2021 as one of Canada’s next star chefs. Hunter’s focus on locally grown and sourced ingredients means he’s truly one to watch.

I consider myself a culinary enthusiast and a good home cook, “fresh foodies” best describes our style. After a busy day at the studio I don’t make anything too fussy, but when I have a little extra time I like to experiment and try new things, even when it’s just the two of us. Summer is easy living in PEI. We relax on our deck, at one of our favourite beaches or just hang in the backyard. It comes with long sunny days and glorious evenings that are perfect for a picnic, barbeque or lobster and corn roast with friends and family.
