Artist's Statement

Elsa Valinas is a Mexican designer, multidisciplinary artist, and proudly one of the production potters here at Island Stoneware. She is always looking for a way to express her creativity. Her main inspiration comes from her Mexican and Spanish roots, She considers herself very fortunate to come from a country full of contrasts, ancestral traditions, and a fantastic mix of modern elements that influence her creative process.

During the spring of 2020 with our studio closed because of COVID-19, she decided to balance all the negative feelings and uncertainty with the beauty of PEI’s landscapes. These original watercolour paintings are the result of that process.
